Exec: Digital is key to Weather Channel's bottom line

The Weather Channel is "not far away" from tallying 50% of its revenue from digital operations and has reached more than 100 million downloads of its smartphone and tablet applications, said digital chief Cameron Clayton. The network, owned by Comcast's NBCUniversal and private-equity firms Blackstone Group and Bain Capital, has a combined 44 million unique monthly users of its apps and an even stronger Web presence.
