What will common core exams mean for teaching?

Tests designed to align with the Common Core State Standards could improve teaching and learning, as well as effectively gauge deeper levels of learning, according to a study by researchers at UCLA's National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards & Student Testing. However, the review of the exams also found that success could be hampered by several financial, technical and political obstacles, education reporter Catherine Gewertz writes in this blog post.
