A year-round exercise program is best for physical and psychological well-being, and people who take a break in the winter can see the effects of inactivity within days, fitness experts say. Exercise physiologist Delia Roberts says cold weather is not a problem if people carefully layer their clothing against the elements, because exercise, even purposeful walking, quickly warms the body.
