Maine could fine pulp mill $497,000 for air pollution

A pulp mill in Maine could be fined $497,000 for emissions violations, according to a proposed administrative consent agreement from state environmental regulators. Old Town Fuel & Fiber is seeking to increase the amount of carbon monoxide it is allowed to release into the air because the cost of replacing a wood-burning boiler and other steps to curb emissions would be too high, the company says.
