Report: Hacking accounted for most data breaches in 2011

Hacking was the leading cause of data breaches in 2011, followed by information lost during transit and internal theft, according to a soon-to-be released report from the Identity Theft Resource Center. Health care organizations accounted for 16% of the 419 reported U.S. data breaches in 2011, most of which involved insider attacks, noted the report.
