Stem cell treatment for ALS is proving safe in study

BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics said the initial results of a clinical trial showed that its adult stem cell therapy NurOwn was safe for patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The study involved the transplant of cells derived from the patients' bone marrow. Researchers are preparing to expand the trial to determine the treatment's efficacy.
