Wi-Fi isn't a priority for top mobile carriers

Although Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cablevision and other major cable providers have invested in Wi-Fi hot spots for residential and business subscribers, few of their mobile counterparts have followed suit. Verizon Wireless has deployed a few hot spots in sports facilities, and AT&T has mostly concentrated its Wi-Fi efforts on New York City. Otherwise, mobile carriers aren't looking to expand their footprints with Wi-Fi because of the overlap with their wireless networks, according to this post.
