Fossil places origin of the manatee in Africa

Scientists discovered that a fossil unearthed in Tunisia in 2008 is a piece of a skull from a now-extinct species of sea cow. The discovery places the origin of the modern manatee, a descendant of the sea cow, to Africa, according to findings published in the journal PLoS One.
