SEC Republicans scuttle proposal on political-spending disclosure

The Securities and Exchange Commission's Republican members refuse to support a rule that would force companies to disclose political spending. "That should not be one of our priorities," Republican Daniel Gallagher told the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "That is just a political wish list." Instead, the SEC will focus on rules mandated by recent legislation, he says.
