International studies offer students language lessons, global view

At Mathis High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, educators are teaching language, imparting a global perspective and helping students prepare for college through the school's international studies program. One instructor from China introduces the spoken language first, adding characters from the alphabet as lessons progress, and he aims to have his students able to converse in Chinese by graduation. "The opportunity to have them learn this here, to have that extra language under their belt, that's really important," a parent said.
