Dermatologist explains how freezing removes fat

Cryolipolysis, a noninvasive procedure that uses freezing to remove fat, has its origins in a condition known as Popsicle panniculitis, in which the prolonged presence of frozen treats can create a depression inside the cheek where fat cells are killed. "And so, some smart people at Harvard began to think if this happens by mistake, maybe we could make this happen where we want it to," dermatologist Murad Alam said.
