Flagstaff nurse monitors heart failure patients from afar

Flagstaff Medical Center is conducting a yearlong telemedicine project to monitor heart failure patients across northern Arizona, including those on the Navajo and Hopi reservations, to help them stay healthy and out of the hospital. Nurse Kelly DeGraff educates patients about home care and analyzes blood pressure, weight, oxygen and heart-activity data sent from wireless phones and health-monitoring devices to determine who needs a follow-up call or text.
