Industrial robots to play larger role in manufacturing

Robots have come a long way in manufacturing since the 1980s when General Motors assembly-line models were welding car doors shut. The controlling technology behind these machines is now up to the task for many applications, and sales are projected to exceed 207,000 by 2015. With the next decade or so, expect to see them used in industrial packaging and distribution, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food packaging and electronics assembly.
