North American electronics distributors tackle Asia

North American electronics distributors are branching out into Asia, but face competition from local companies. However, most Asian distributors do not have broad lines of products, and compete mainly on cost. "With small and medium-size customers we can bring value-added services, a broad product line and do more in terms of demand creation around a set of products," said Bill Mitchell, chief executive officer and chairman of Arrow Electronics.
