Cisco supports grid management with new product line

Cisco Systems has broadened its smart-energy platform with a suite of hardware and software products for utilities. The company's GridBlocks Architecture gives service providers control over network functions in a scalable solution that can support legacy infrastructure. Separately, Cisco released field area network equipment that builds on the company's IPv6 alliance with Itron, and advanced modules for its 2000 Series Connected Grid Routers.
