Study: Uterine artery embolization treats symptomatic fibroids

Uterine artery embolization has been proven safe and effective for the treatment of patients with symptomatic fibroids, a U.S. study revealed. Researchers found that the procedure, which involves the injection of tiny particles to block arteries that supply blood to the fibroids, helped improve the quality of life and symptoms in patients during a three-year follow-up period.
