Green roof to emphasize form of faith-based center in Japan

Concrete portions of the roof of a planned community center in Kyoto, Japan, will sport vegetation to emphasize the "figure 8" form of the building while reducing its environmental impact. The green roof is expected to help manage stormwater runoff, while increasing the insulation of the building. Other parts of the roof will be made of flexible, transparent, glazed panels held up by cable nets.
