Nixon's Medicaid plan extends coverage to 300,000 residents

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, said his plan for expanding the state's Medicaid program to cover 300,000 more residents would benefit the uninsured, the economy and taxpayers because the federal government pays the cost for the first three years. Republican Rep. Steve Cookson said he was worried that expanding Medicaid would crowd out other state services over the long term.
