Principals assume expanded roles in Pittsburgh schools

Pittsburgh superintendent Mark Roosevelt has launched a new program to help principals take on new instructional leadership roles and aid other educators to become principals through hands-on leadership training. This year, Roosevelt has dispensed with yearly raises for principals, but will offer most of these school leaders bonuses based on student performance and other factors.
