Wolseley attributes profit loss to U.S. economic woes

U.K.-based Wolseley cites the declining U.S housing market, a lessening of consumer confidence and weakness of the dollar for its 25% drop in profits in the latter half of 2007. The building products and plumbing/HVAC distributor has put a general hold on hiring in the U.S. and the U.K. in response to current market conditions.
