Smit leaves Charter to run Comcast Cable Communications

Neil Smit, the chief executive officer at Charter Communications since 2005, is leaving the company to become president of Comcast Cable Communications. Smit will take the position formerly held by Comcast Chief Operating Officer Steve Burke, who is expected to play a major role as Comcast assumes control of NBC Universal. Smit will report to Burke.
