New Zealand seeks teachers for disadvantaged schools

A partnership between the University of Auckland and Teach First New Zealand will place teachers with six weeks of training in secondary-school classrooms. The initiative, which has drawn criticism, is part of a fast-track programme to place teachers in disadvantaged schools. Officials are seeking to recruit 20 people next month, and want candidates who already have earned degrees -- particularly in languages, engineering or science.
