Office Depot rolls out simplified store layouts

Office Depot set out to make shopping at its stores easier to compete in a crowded field that includes Staples, Wal-Mart and Amazon. A reorganization tested at two lab stores last year includes more prominent displays of popular items and more abundant and simpler in-store signage, a model the chain will roll out to all 1,132 locations this year.
