Chemical industry promotes work with DHS on CFATS

The American Chemistry Council and other industry groups have found success working with the Department of Homeland Security on chemical-security regulations, and ACC has proposed a plan to partner with DHS to streamline security planning through the federal alternative security program. A permanent authorization of the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards would be welcome, a source said. "No one is comfortable with this as an interim program. Everyone wants regulatory certainty," the source said.
