GM electric car uses BASF's nylon for lithium-ion battery cells

General Motors has introduced its Cadillac ELR, a luxury vehicle using the same lithium-ion-powered architecture found in its Chevrolet Volt. The Volt and ELR's battery pack features extensive use of plastics, and the nylon needed to mold the battery frames comes from BASF.
