IHS: Consumers spent $62.4B on watching movies in 2012

Worldwide spending by consumers on watching movies reached $62.4 billion last year, compared with $61.1 billion in 2011, according to IHS Screen Digest. The figures include theatrical releases, disc rentals, pay-television video-on-demand and digital retail purchases and rentals. North America accounted for 41% of global movie-watching revenue in 2012, the market research firm reported.
