Medical director introduces maggot therapy to Mo. wound clinic

The director of wound care and hyperbaric medicine at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Mo., has introduced maggot debridement therapy to the wound clinic's treatment options. Two patients have been treated with the therapy who otherwise may have required amputation, Dr. Robert Dorsey said. The therapy cleans wounds well and promotes faster healing, but some patients remain averse, Dorsey said.
