Mont. 9-1-1 dispatchers do more than just handle calls

Emergency dispatchers for Montana's Great Falls Police Department answer 9-1-1 calls and help officers investigate crimes by checking names, license plates and outstanding warrants, says shift leader Karl Upton. Dispatchers and officers have a shared code language and Upton says they save seconds, which saves lives, and it all starts with getting an address, the most essential piece of information.
