NRC to hold hearing on S.C. plant's fire-protection standards

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public hearing in South Carolina to address a new approach to fire protection at Duke Energy's Oconee nuclear plant. Discussions will also focus on ongoing and future efforts to strengthen the plant against natural disasters, said Sandra McGee, a spokeswoman for Duke Energy. "There has been a lot of work in the industry in response to the Japanese event," she said.
