Opinion: Labels continue to vouch for radio's value

Music label 429 Records is touting the radio play Camper Van Beethoven is getting for its new album, "La Costa Perdida," from Fordham University's WFUV-FM in New York and Cumulus Broadcasting's KFOG-FM in San Francisco. The shoutout to radio shows the value of the medium to the music industry, according to Radio Business Reports: "Time after time record labels brag about the airplay one of their acts is getting. If performance royalties ever went to court, labels v. radio, the radio contention that airplay has intrinsic value would find some of its strongest supporting statements in the press releases of record labels."
