Pill keeps tabs on firefighters' vitals

Australian firefighters are testing a small capsule with a tiny thermometer and transmitter that when swallowed, measures response to heat stress. The Equivital EQ02 LifeMonitor made by Vivonoetics passes through the body in a day or two, but while it is working it can help officials know when to remove a firefighter from the scene because of health reasons. More than half of 2011 firefighter deaths in 2011 were caused by on-duty heart attacks.
