Hotel overview for 2006 includes slower rate increases

Room prices in major U.S. hotel markets rose by an average of 7.5% to $105 per night, according to PKF Consulting, but the increase in rates will likely slow in some markets in 2006 as more midpriced hotels open. Meanwhile, ultra-luxury hotels expected this year range from a tented camp in Chiang Rai, Thailand, to two InterContinental Hotels Group properties opening in Baltimore and Boston.
