Achievement declines among Australia's top students

Scores from the 2011 National Assessment Program- Literacy and Numeracy exams show that results among top students in Australia have fallen, according to Education Minister Peter Garrett. The results also show that Australia's students are less competitive with their international peers, particularly those in Asia, he said. While Garrett said the results were not acceptable, he was hopeful that reforms adopted in recent years would improve the country's standing.
