Intermodal makes freight railroad a shining star

Last year, freight railroads put more than $10 billion into their infrastructure, and as the trucking industry faces higher fuel costs, more road congestion and a driver shortage, the dramatic increase in intermodal shipping by rail is bringing the industry into a "new golden age," according to author Frank Wilner. "The railroad of today is not the railroad of yesterday," BNSF CEO Matt Rose said. "We're a great kaleidoscope of the U.S. economy."
