Cane production outlook is raised for key Brazilian region

Sugarcane production in Brazil's center-south region will be higher than previously predicted, thanks to adequate rainfall, said Antonio de Padua Rodrigues, technical director of industry group Unica. The region is expected to harvest 580 million to 590 million metric tons in the season starting April 1, up from about 580 million metric tons forecast last month, Padua said. "So far, I can say that crop yields won't disappoint," he added.
