Internet usage and economic inequality in China

China has recently announced that its Gini coefficient -- a gauge of economic inequality -- is 0.47, which is higher than a warning level established by the U.N. In addition to income, Internet use varies significantly across the country's regions. For example, Internet penetration exceeds 70% in Beijing but is below 30% in Jiangxi.
