Programmers, politicians square off in battle over campaign software

Fundraising software used by the Obama campaign last year has become a source of contention between Democratic political operatives and the programmers who helped build it, Ben Popper writes. The programmers, who work for large technology firms, say that because the software was based on open-source code, it should become available to the tech community, but Democrats don't want the software used in Republican campaigns.
