Small businesses wary of health care mandates

Small business owners who are on the cusp of having 50 full-time workers on the payroll this year are seeking other ways to keep business moving without being subjected to the health care law that mandates they provide employee coverage or else pay a penalty. Elizabeth Turley, owner of Meesh & Mia Corp., plans on hiring independent contractors instead of full-time workers in order to keep her headcount down.
