$3.6B Elgin-O’Hare project in Ill. gets fed approval

A $3.6 billion project to extend the Chicago-area Elgin-O'Hare Expressway and convert it into a toll road moves ahead with the U.S. Transportation Department's approval. "This project, combined with the surrounding development and other infrastructure projects, stands to create as many as 65,000 direct and indirect jobs by 2040," said Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill. Work will include widening the road and constructing a ramp.
