Fatty liver raises risk of metabolic syndrome plus diabetes

Men with fatty liver were more than 12 times as likely to develop metabolic syndrome with type 2 diabetes, while fatty liver was associated with a more than 10-fold increased risk of the conditions in women, a study in Diabetes Care found. Women with fatty liver were also more than twice as likely to develop metabolic syndrome with coronary artery calcification, researchers noted.
