NHL shoots at a goal of continual app usage

The NHL is using the offer of live wallpaper and fun features to increase continual engagement with its Android application. Developers have added a display based on the Zamboni and an interactive puck-shooting game, among other tweaks. "We see mobile becoming the primary way people experience pro sports in the future, so they stay in on the action and have the ultimate fan experience," says Perry Landesberg, vice president of content and distribution at Cellfish Studios, which designed the app for the NHL.
