Pediatric hospital confirms possible data breach

Stanford University School of Medicine and the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford announced a potential data breach that may have affected about 57,000 pediatric patients. The incident occurred when a laptop computer with limited patient data was stolen from a doctor's vehicle. Data stored on the unencrypted device included patients' names, birth dates and medical record numbers.
