Taiwan hopes for higher investment quotas from China

During a meeting next month, Taiwan is set to ask China for higher investment quotas, meaning more foreign investors would be able to buy Chinese securities. Investors are allowed to use a certain amount of off-shore yuan to invest on the mainland, and Taiwan houses a yuan-clearing system, leading regulators to hope they will play a central role in funnelling investment to the mainland and opening up the Chinese currency to the world.
