VA often overpays on disability claims, inspector general says

The most common mistake made by disability claims examiners at the Department of Veterans Affairs is awarding too much to disabled vets, according to a report by the VA's inspector general. Overcompensation most commonly occurs when examiners give high disability ratings to veterans who are undergoing medical procedures, then fail to adjust the rating when a veteran's condition improves, the report notes.
