Prescription prices rise since election, ahead of Medicare benefit

Prescription drug prices have been rising in the months since the presidential election at a greater rate than the rate of inflation, according to data presented by PriceAlert. More than 30 of the 50 largest-selling drugs had price increases between U.S. national elections and Jan. 19, according to a report by Delta Marketing Dynamics. The current round of increases is expected to set the tone for 2005, the last chance before the Medicare prescription drug benefit takes effect next year.
