Fractional CO2 lasers treat acne scars

Unlike older carbon dioxide lasers, which resurfaced an entire layer of skin, fractional CO2 lasers are effective on acne scars as well as fine wrinkles, dermatologists say. Fractional lasers drill tiny columns in the skin that are surrounded by intact skin, said dermatologist Ben Behnam. "And as a result, over time collagen gets deposited within those tiny holes, those columns," Behnam said.
