Restricting protein may protect organs post-surgery

Dietary protein restriction for two weeks prior to surgery protected the liver and kidneys from ischemic injury in a recent Harvard study on mice. The researchers say that human tests are needed to determine whether the protein-free time frame is equivalent and whether the same protective effects on organs will occur.
