Less ventilation, delirium with ABCDE bundle, report says

The ABCDE bundle developed at Vanderbilt University reduces patient delirium and days spent on a ventilator, according to a University of Nebraska Medical Center study presented at SCCM's 42nd Critical Care Congress. The bundle includes a delirium assessment tool and calls for care coordination among ICU nurses and respiratory therapists. It uses methods such as awakening trials, spontaneous breathing tests, and early mobilization and ambulation.
