SEC wants insurers, other firms to disclose risks from climate change

The Securities and Exchange Commission issued "interpretive guidance" that helps explain to insurance firms and other companies when they must disclose the risks they face related to climate change. Including global-warming risks among other disclosures is a logical move as companies are obliged to report any significant threat to their investors, SEC Chairwoman Mary L. Schapiro said.
