Maury ICU program gets patients mobile, reduces costs

Maury Regional Medical Center in Tennessee cut ICU stays and saved an estimated $1.5 million by reducing deep sedation and increasing rehabilitation and efforts to get patients mobile as soon as possible after admission to the unit. Maury, which was part of the QUEST collaborative on quality improvement, brought together ICU nursing, respiratory and physical therapy staff to study best practices and develop protocols.
